[ sheryl's gift for the holiday comes in the form of a small wicker basket, covered by a square of plaid fabric with an envelope stuck out if it. beneath the fabric is a palm-sized canvas of a golden bird in flight, the watercolor imperfect but done with care, a small bag of hard candy sweets, and an elegant blue scarf tucked at the bottom.
the envelope bears malkuth's rounded handwriting, addressed to a "miss fairy", and the letter reads thus:
We've known each other a while now, and I've loved to hear your stories of home, of the people you know, the songs you sing... We talked about the sea and sky, suffering and love, and I really am happy, proud, and grateful to know you, Sheryl. You're one of my absolute best friends here. So on top of the other gifts I've both made and bought for you here... Let me open my heart a little.
That "someone" I like and don't want to impose on more is an artist you might see in Hugo's gallery one day. He's a little aloof, a bit childish, and reminds me a little of the sea. He's also considerate and kind, genuine in a way I've rarely been on the receiving end of, and playful. Intelligent, wise, creative, open-minded and inspiring... It's embarrassing how every time my Syntrofos makes a noise I hope it's him, and even more embarrassing how disappointed I get that it's not. He's someone very important to me even beyond these feelings, so please treat him well if you ever cross paths! Rafayel's truly someone worth knowing.
I hope you enjoy the candies -- they're honey flavored, good for your throat and tasty to boot -- and the scarf as winter continues on. Make sure you take care of yourself! We'll be plenty busy in the new year, both with gigs and our efforts to help those who need it in Karteria, so we've gotta be fighting fit!
